YOC Preliminaries Round 5

D3vil0fD3eath of Japan defeated ApoCalyss with a machina/karakuri hybrid deck to earn the 5th spot of YOC. D3vil completely controlled the duel by turn 5. This duel between two ultimate gunslingers was interesting. I did not compete in this YOC round and will not be in the next one as well.

LastExcaliber has won the 4th round of the Yu-gi-oh preliminaries. Their final duel against f0yuki of Japan was won by successfully bluffing win a bad hand until drawing what they needed to win. Proving once again that anything can happen in this game. I did not play in this round myself.

YOC Preliminaries Round 3

brwwa took the third round of YOC today narrowly winning over DinnerTime of Japan by the skin of his teeth. when all seemed lost brwwa drew Pot of Avarice to get the 2 cards necessary to evade DinnerTime's Elemental Hero the Shining and take the round. The Heart of the Cards paid off in this brilliantly played duel.

I myself played in this round and got to the top 64 before being eliminated.

VirusCreator (VC)stomped the competition today becoming the second player to qualify for YOC (Yu-gi-oh Onlne Championships). VC used a herald of perfection deck to totally lockdown their last YOC opponent YuiYuiMANIAC, who has previously qualified for the World Tournament. Got to the top 16 again myself.

Winter YOC 2012! + New Evolution Set

Winter YOC (Yu-gi-oh Online Championship) 2012 is upon us and loads of players are registering on the main yu-gi-oh site to try their hand at being crowned the world's best.

Round 1 of the YOC was recently won by Mizo7 from Japan who is ranked #20 in the world currently in the tournament rankings and has the title "Ultimate Gunslinger" I know firsthand how good Mizo is because they knocked me out of the tournament when it came down to the final 16 players (I'm Korra). I have made it to the final 16 a few times so I thought I might impart some YOC advice on hopefuls that are new to the system.

Participants in the preliminary rounds of Winter YOC are Awarded the Yusei Blue female and male duel disks. Go to Blister's to get your 2 free disks after you duel in the preliminaries (no wins necessary).

1. Your opponent's often watch your previous Rock/Paper/Scissors contests to know what you will likely pick for their round with you. Mix up your picks to avoid this pitfall.

2. They also watch your deck, and players with many decks will pick the best that is best suited. They can also add/edit cards before the duel starts, so if you are playing let's say a blackwing deck they will add 3x shadow imprisoning mirror and play lightsworn to face you.

3. Don't chat or do anything else other than focus on your duel. Distractions lead to mistakes.

4. If you are disconnected from the server while waiting for a duel login again quickly and go back to the championship grounds. If you get back in before the round starts you are safe.

5. Each round is roughly 30 minutes before the next round starts. Take your bathroom breaks and get refreshed if you have more than a few minutes of free time before the next round starts.

In addition to this advice you must have duelistt premium and have participated in a minimum of at least 250 duels before you can register for a YOC spot. If you do not have a spot you can enter at the time the tourney is about to start and hope to be randomly selected from open spaces.

There may be an exception to the 250 rule as I ran into a player named FinalWinner who had 88 wins and 0 loses until we dueled and they were able to enter but officially you need 250 duels.

Evolution

More repeats but they are a decent batch. you can buy 1 for every 10 stars you earn in evolution. After you get more than 30 stars the card order repeats. You must buy them from Blister's Outpost in the special packs section.

10 stars Dark general Freed

20 stars Infernity Destroyer

30 stars Guardian Eatos
